Ocean Lodge was Georgia Bulldog headquarters as fans gathered for the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry.
Our guests showed their support for the team and the weather cooperated nicely. Ocean Lodge was the perfect home base for the weekend.

It’s just over a week until halloween and the biggest weekend of the year on St. Simons—the Georgia-Florida party, er, I mean football game. There are plenty of things to do around here that weekend even if you don’t go to the game. And the weather is as perfect right now as it gets. Joe McDonough, 62 year old Owner and Innkeeper of Ocean Lodge wins first Place in his age group in Red Cross Tri-Red Triathlon event held on St. Simons Island on October 11, 2009. In picture Red Cross Development Director Leigh Anne Estrada cheers Joe’s finish.
With over 300 participants swimming, biking and running the event was a great success in raising money and awareness for the Red Cross.
Commenting after the race Joe says he owes his fitness to diet provided by Chef David Butler at Ocean Lodge and the peace and tranquility found within it’s walls.
Ocean Lodge supports the important work of the Red Cross in coastal Georgia as well as state and nationally. Joe says “Ocean Lodge encourages all companies and individuals to support the Red Cross with your time and money. The role played by the Red Cross every day in our communities and when disaster strikes is so important. Get involved!”

The GOP Georgia-Florida “Red & Black” Shrimp Boil will be Friday, October 30th, at 5:30 pm, at the Brunswick Exchange Club Fairgrounds. We have commitments from the leading gubernatorial candidates: Nathan Deal, Karen Handel, Eric Johnson, and John Oxendine, as well as candidates for other offices. Nashville recording artist Jaime Thietten will also be performing at this event.

This is many local’s favorite time of year. It is not too hot, the sky is usually clear, the crowds are gone. This is the perfect time to enjoy a stroll on the beach, especially during a full moon. The season is just getting underway for many of our cultural events like the Coastal Symphony of Georgia which holds its first concert on the 12th. And what is October in the Golden Isles without the biggest event of the year–Georgia Florida weekend. We have a few rooms still available for the weekend special but call quick!
